Below you will find the modalities listed above with a brief description of each style of massage. I am trained in all listed modalities as well as others.
The way I work is what is sometimes referred to as "Intuitive Massage."
In each session you will have the opportunity to inform me of any current or ongoing physical, mental or emotional challenges you are experiencing. From our communication, I sense into what will best serve your needs then give a massage appropriate to meet those needs. Working in collaboration always produces the most effective results.
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that cleanses and balances the energy patterns in the body. As a result, the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum mental, emotional, and physical health.
During each massage session, I work in energetic connection flowing the gentle energy of Reiki in order to remove blockages, detoxify your energy system, and restore your vital life force energy. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that is specifically designed to alleviate the source of pain by focusing isolated pressure and release to “trigger points” in your body. A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. These ‘knots’ are built up throughout a person’s life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. A trigger point in the back, for example, may trigger pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull much like a tooth ache. Trigger points are caused by muscle overuse or injury, and because the aches are associated with moving parts, the pain is commonly mistaken for arthritis. Trigger point therapy can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative. In this type of massage the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort. Trigger point therapy is an excellent pain management modality and can be easily learned and used for self treatment. If you have chronic pain, Trigger point therapy is for you both on and off the table.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Fascia is a continuous band of connective tissue that lies beneath the skin, covering all muscles, tendons, ligaments and the internal organs. In this type of massage, attention is given to that fascia attached to the musculoskeletal system. Using slow gentle, but sustained pressure applied to fascia which is bound, or restricted, can loosen up previously restricted muscle movement and reduce or even eliminate pain. Myofascial Massage is deeply relaxing to the body & mind.
